Question by : Is Fish Oil the New “Snake Oil”?
Lots of benefits, but not a lot of proof. I’ve become a health not so I’m curious about this. Miracle cure all, or a fool’s elixir?

I am 58 and still remember my mother shoving a spoon of fish oil into my mouth every morning–back then we had it only liquid and it tasted awful–but what can I say—fish oil does benefit. First of all, the higher the DHA in fish oil, the better it is for the joings and for tackling cholesterol issues. Secondly, Fish oil does improve the brain–it’s been proven that babies who receive fish oil are much more “brainier”(smarter)than those who didn’t, plus, the fish oil seemed to make for less fussy eaters in children. Another benefit of fish oil is the EPA–the EPA is currently higher than the DHA and it helps the body to prevent blot clots because basically it is a blood thinner, but it also is helping the body to convert some of the nutrients into DHA–which is crucial for the body. Adding a quality fish oil to the daily regimen is not a mistake, especially with fish oil. Fish oil also seems to help the skin–I am giving my dog a 1000mg fish oil capsule every day and noticed that she has no dry skin, no flaking and a smooth coat. So, I think fish oil is beneficial, no matter what…..
